Respect, Flexibility and Compassion

Welcome to my healing massage and bodywork practice.

I enjoy working with each client to further their own objectives, not to deliver a preset, generic massage.  To that end, I will talk with you to identify your goals, health concerns and comfort levels so that I may develop a sense of what particular mix of techniques will be most helpful.  I will be happy to work in conjuction with your health care providers to help in your healing process.  If you wish, I will use additional modalities such as breathwork, guided imagery, energy work and/or sound healing.  If this is your first professional massage, or your first in several years, you may find my web page entitled "What to Expect in Your Massage Session" to be helpful.  Just click on that page link on the navigational bar at the bottom of this page.  I find it very rewarding to work with "first-timers" as well as experienced massage consumers and fellow bodyworkers and healers.  I will be honored to guide you through this process.  Please call or email if you have any questions.

Most clients seek relaxation and/or deep tissue massage, combined with some specific therapeutic work in one or more areas and/or energy work.  Each body has its own stresses, challenges and sensibilities.   During massage, we may find tissues that are tight and in need of attention.  In such instances, I may offer modalities such as trigger point and breathwork techniques that can be powerful in helping release pain and tension you may not have been fully aware of.

My Healing Massage Practice

My healing massage practice is conducted at several locations, including my home-based studio, clients' homes and other healing centers in Chicago and the North Shore suburbs, including the ENH Integrative Medicine program at the Park Center in Glenview.

The concept of my home-based healing massage practice is different from the average massage situation.  In many massage situations, even where you pay far higher rates, you will receive 45-50 minutes of actual time on the massage table, and you will not have an opportunity to ask questions about the massage, to take your time after your massage, or to receive feedback about maintaining your body between massage sessions.  You may not even know who your massage therapist will be.

I offer a more relaxed, less pressured environment, where the focus is on you (Body, Mind, Spirit and Emotions), rather than on rushing you out the door.  Thus, I do my best to give you a full hour of attention on the table.  I leave some additional time between clients, so that I can spend a few extra minutes with you, and still have time to relax and re-center myself between clients.  With house-calls I also leave additional time for transitioning in and out of your home, as well as ample time for your questions.

At all of my other locations, I endeavor to bring the same individual attention and respect to each client.

Clients with Significant Areas of Pain

Pain is one of the key reasons many people seek integrative bodywork.  Some clients will arrive with very specific problem areas they want addressed.  For example, you may seek relief from difficult low back pain or pain between the shoulder blades, etc.  Those primary issues are very important and I will address them to the best of my ability.  My training and experience also indicate that areas of pain are often influenced by our daily activities and by difficulties in other areas of the body.  Pain in the upper shoulders is often exacerbated by tightness in the upper chest muscles, which serves to bring our shoulders forward, straining the muscles between our shoulder blades.  Low back pain often involves the posterior hip, hamstrings and abdominal muscles.

I have the bodywork techniques to help relieve pain and discomfort.  Yet, it is important to understand that patterns of pain and spasm that took years to develop may take more than one session to completely resolve.  Stress and anxiety, lack of sleep, unbalanced exercize, poor nutrition and dehydration exacerbate many of our aches and pains.  I would like to work with you so that massage might be an important part of your holistic efforts to understand and facilitate your body's healing processes with the goal of leading a healthier, happier, more balanced life.

Pain will be addressed at an appropriate comfort level for each client.  Individuals with fibromyalgia, for example, may receive very different (often much lighter) massage techniques than a competitive athlete.  Individuals dealing with issues related to trauma or past surgery may also benefit from less invasive work.  If you have any particular issues or needs, I will do my best to understand the nature of your situation and to evaluate a range of potential bodywork and energywork tools to address it.

To Learn More About My Practice . . .
please use the navigational bars at the top and bottom of each page.

About this website.  This website contains a good deal of information about various massage, bodywork and energy work perspectives, techniques and modalities.  My purpose in providing this information is to allow you to know as much as you would like to know about my healing work.  I address each client within their own comfort levels.  If you "just want a massage" and are not interested in detailed explanations, that, too, is completely okay with me.

"My promise is to do my best to enhance
your sense of well-being, to alleviate your
discomfort, and to help facilitate a meaningful
healing process, in a manner that is safe,
respectful and comfortable for you".

And, please email me or call if you have any questions.
